A woman can be slim and have poor health, poor diet and not take of herself. It is not exclusive to fat or obese persons to be guilty of this!

My daughter is quite slim. She drinks sodas and eats candy bars, pudding, hot dogs and Kraft macaroni n cheese dinners! Her skin and hair look terrible! She doesnt sleep well so her disposition is terrible! It is no consolation in my mind that she wears a petite size 00! Her cholestrol and triglyceride levels are off, as well as blood glucose.

I know another woman who eats well planned meals, has gorgeous skin and beautiful hair. She sleeps around 8 hrs each night, works out and is a wonderful person. She is +70lbs over weight. She doesnt have any cellulite on her body and has a gorgeous body. She is just a well-rounded woman or rather voluptuous! She is an incredible example of good health but she is over-weight. Would you rather have the slim woman for a wife or the chubby woman? You decide! Reply

I was reading my weekly reader, the Scroll magazine and as usual I could not stop until I read every word. It so much joy to read the article, The most joyful day. I began to want to see the event so much that I could visualize it in my mind, it was beautiful but I know in reality it's much more beautiful. Reply

Why do so few women go to chabad? I am relatively young, 35, I have gone to chabad over various years and times. very few women, pretty or not pretty, young or old. I guess one can try date. If you go to reconstruction it's there is more women. what I am saying is for the chabad movement to have any lasting effect on bal tshuva they have to have more women, I'm not picky at all, there are like zero, so perhaps it's got to rethink this. Maybe unless you go full chassidim and quit your job idk, it is a problem, I can't commit to chabad or a life of celeabacy, please help rabbis, please help. Reply

I am a non-Jew married to a non-observant Jew who, however, defends the faith. I also am an atheist. We don't clash on this issue. I am all of the things you list as requirements for a good wife, except, of course, God fearing. I don't think fear belongs in any religion. Unfortunately, my husband feels that happiness is not to be trusted and lives a life in a constant quest for perfection. As you might guess, this is a difficult path and one that can, for a wife, be oppressive. It is what it is. I still care for him. Reply

Yes, it is indded a fact that the real work begins after marriage once the honeymoon phase is over.Having a religious wife or husband makes it a lot easier as the same values are shared.Once the person is spiritually equipped and the other partner is lacking then the realtionship is still strong.Often when both are tired then its the dangerous phase as both become lazy and the responsibilities has to be done by one partner only. My husband and I have been married for 43 1/2 yrs this month. Reading your email made me think back to the girl It was some +4 decades ago. I remember watching him and being impressed with his character, dignity and that he was always honest. Even at the young age of 18 yr I recognize those attributes as being ones I wanted my future spouse to have and many years later I still admire those attributes in him. He sets a wonderful example for our family and I strive to set the same example as well. Its nice that his looks are kind to the eyes but his character is so much more attractive to me and is lasting. Reply

Very well written. However today all I hear about are the questions that need to be answered in a 'resume! Which include what size dress does your mother wear, what kind of Shabbos tablecloth do you use, and other utter nonsense. This explains the marriage crisis we have. It is community created. Reply
